Rehabilitation Technology
Rehabilitation Technology
Technology in both rehabilitation and elderly care is rapidly advancing in the fields of robotics, augmented reality, virtual reality, electrical stimulation…. The list goes on!Â
Â
At Foundations physio we have embraced these changes and are constantly looking to source, trial and test new technologies that may help our patients. We believe technology can make physical activity fun, engaging and more effective when combined with physiotherapy interventions. We spend time trialling lots of different options in order and adopt the most cost-effective methods to aid your rehabilitation. Below are some links to our technology partners:
Neurovirt
Functional electrical stimulation
These devices are predominantly used for the treatment of foot drop and are used when walking. They do also have some uses in upper limb rehabilitation to help stimulate muscle activity around the arm.Â
We can assess and support with funding for an Odstock medical device or work privately with you to explore using the Ottobock L100 Go system.
Litegait
Why not book an appointment at our clinic to try our LiteGait bodyweight treadmill. We have the ability to safely stand and walk people who otherwise might not be able to bear weight. It’s a great way to work either on getting into a standing position or a safe way to explore balance and more challenging walking activities.
Gripable
This portable hand held rehabilitation device works on your grip, shoulder and elbow movements. It uses games to help increase repetitions of an exercise without it feeling dull or repetitive. We are delighted to be able to loan these devices out on trial to those who we feel it will benefit.Â
Motomed
We are pleased to have this accessible bike at our Farnham clinic, allowing wheelchair users to cycle actively, passively or with additional resistance using their arms or legs.Â
